Tanya was featured in Starwood’s “Applause” July, 2006 Newsletter: “…while Tanya was on duty at the front desk, a young boy ran into the lobby screaming and crying that his brother was in the bottom of the pool and wasn’t coming up. Tanya ran through the lobby to the pool and spa area to discover the boy face down on the bottom of the pool in the deep end. She dove into the pool (wearing her silk skirt, jacket, nylons and heels) and pulled him to the surface. A guest who witnessed this assisted Tanya in pulling the boy out of the pool. Another guest, who was a registered nurse, assisted in giving the boy CPR until the paramedics arrived. The boy was taken to the hospital where he recovered with no major injuries. Had it not been for Tanya’s quick response, the boy may have died or could have incurred serious injuries as a result of being under water for a long time.” To present Tanya with her award, a luncheon was given to honor her act of heroism. Well done, Tanya!
